THE 15th ASIA-PACIFIC CONFERENCE OF HUMAN GENETICS
in conjunction with
The 5th Annual Meeting of Indonesian Society of Human Genetics (InaSHG)

The 2nd Conference of Indonesian Society of Genetic Counselor (ISGC)

4-8 November 2025 (Tue–Sat), Yogyakarta, INDONESIA

Equitable Future in Genomic Medicine: Innovation, Leapfrogging, and Advancing Technologies for Humanity.

Introduction:

Genomic medicine is a field of science that studies the use of genomic data in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. As technology advances, genome analysis is now an essential part of modern medical practice, enabling a more personalized and targeted approach to healthcare. In the last decade, genomic technology, including Next-generation sequencing (NGS) has advanced rapidly, changing the way we understand and manage various medical conditions. From identifying genetic mutations underlying disease to developing therapies tailored to an individual’s genetic profile, this field has shown great potential in improving clinical outcomes.

However, the main challenge in Genomic Medicine is translating research findings from the laboratory (bench) to clinical practice (bedside), and furthermore, how to leverage these discoveries into business innovations with broad impacts, particularly in Asia-Pacific region and developing countries, including Indonesia. This translational process involves cross-disciplinary collaboration between researchers, clinical practitioners, industry players, and other stakeholders, requires a strong regulatory and ethical framework. The Indonesian Society of Human Genetics (InaSHG) in collaboration with Asia-Pacific Society of Human Genetics (APSHG) will hold an official biennial scientific meeting of the Asia-Pacific Conference of Human Genetics (APCHG) 2025 in conjunction with the 5th Annual Meeting of Indonesian Society of Human Genetics (InaSHG) & the 2nd Conference of Indonesian Society of Genetic Counselor (ISGC).

In 2025, Indonesia will host the APCHG for the second time, after 31 years. The 15th APCHG will be held in Yogyakarta on Tuesday-Saturday 4-8 November 2025. The conference will be held in Alana Hotel & Convention Center, Yogyakarta. Apart from its strong scientific content, being held in a cultural city with lots of opportunities for exploration is another key factor that will make the APCHG 2025 even more attractive to the participants. The meeting is expected to be attended by about 500 delegates and exhibitors all over the world. For the 15th APCHG in 2025, we expect that the support from local participants will also be great.

This conference aims to explore the journey of Genomic Medicine from basic research to clinical applications, ultimately to the business market, and ethical, legal, and social issues (ELSI). By bringing together experts in the fields of genomics, clinical, and industry, we hope to identify the challenges and opportunities in integrating genomic science into health practice and its commercialization. In this session, participants will gain in-depth insight into how genomic technology can be implemented effectively in clinical and business settings, as well as the strategic steps needed to accelerate the adoption of medical genomics in broader healthcare.

Objective:

  1. To provide basic and ongoing knowledge for participants to increase current knowledge and frontiers regarding the application of Genomic Medicine to improve patients’ healthcare.
  2. To enhance insights for participants in the fields of Genomic Medicine for continuing education in the fields of human genomics and beyond.
  3. To increase insights and business opportunities for Genomic Medicine applications to improve people’s quality of life
